Photographer Mike Barton has colorfully captured the Mushroom Houses of Charlevoix designed by Earl Young in more than 190 full-color photographs. The hard cover book has 112 pages.
Young’s creations are referred to by many people as the Mushroom Houses because of their unusual shapes and sweeping round rooflines – they appear to blend into their natural settings as if they sprouted from the ground. Their inadequate size has required many homeowners to renovate to make them more roomy and useful. It’s as if Young designed these rooms for, well, elves?
